Wash and clean the vegetables.Cut these into square shapes.
Cook this partially in a cooker along with 1 sprig curryleaves, desired salt and turmeric powder. Keep this aside.
Cook daal in pressure cooker after adding required water.
Mix this with the cooked vegetables and again cook this.Cook in low flame only.
Mix chilly powder,coriander powder,powdered cumins,fenugreek powder and asafoetida powder in water and add this to the cooked vegetables.
Also add the soaked tamarind piece too.
Bring this to boil and gravy thickens ,season it.Sambar Ready
For Seasoning: Heat oil (coconut oil ) in a pan,splutter mustard seeds.
Add shallots and curry leaves.
Pour this to top of Sambar
